Services held for Burdette Jacobson
Funeral services were held for Burdette Jacobson on Monday, October 6, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Cresco at 1:00 p.m. with the Rev. Michael Tauke presiding. Interment was held at Kerian’s Cemetery in rural Cresco. Lindstrom Funeral Home handled the arrangements.
Burdette Jacobson, 76, died on October 3, 1997 at the Howard County Hospital.
Burdette was born on October 31, 1920 at the farmhouse in section 17 of Fremont Township, Winneshiek County, the son of Bennie J. and Selma (Pederson) Jacobson. He was baptized and confirmed at the Fremont Lutheran Church and attended Fremont #6 through the eighth grade.
On April 24, 1950, he married Elaine Watson at St. Stephen’s Catholic Church in Chester. Burdette spent most of his life farming and lived on the Jacobson Century Farm at the time of his death.
Survivors include his wife, Elaine; his children: Byron Jacobson of Cresco and Niane Meyer of Tama; two grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; five sisters: Stella Larsen of St. Michael, MN, Marlys Scheevel of Preston, MN, Shirley Timmerman of Maple Lake, MN, Wilda Middlebrook of Cresco, and Norma Larsen of Minneapolis, MN.
Burdette was preceded in death by his parents.
