Catherine Hill, 89, services held

Funeral services for Catherine Hill were held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, December 23, at the Nativity Catholic Church in Harmony, MN, with interment in the State Line Cemetery in rural Harmony with the Rev. Steve Peterson officiating. Lindstrom Funeral Home in Harmony handled the arrangements.

Catherine Winnifred Hill, 89, died at the Harmony Community Nursing Home on December 20, 1997.

Catherine was born April 18, 1908 in rural Winneshiek County, the daughter of Walter and Winnifred (Cashman) Ryan. Following graduation from normal school she taught school for several years in Cresco and Decorah areas until her marriage to Joseph Edward Hill on January 2, 1937. They farmed near Harmony all of their lives.

Survivors include seven children: Allan of Harmony; Arlene Luzum of Apple Valley, MN; Dorothy Elpert of Irvine, CA; LaRita Langen of LaCrescent, MN; Edward of Montgomery, AL; Mary Nyberg of Eden Prairie, MN; and Charles of Harmony; 15 grandchildren; four great-granddaughters; two sisters: Eileen Botelho of Cresco; Mercedes Ryan of Mason City; and two brothers: Roger and William Ryan, both of Harmony, MN.

Catherine was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph in 1957; three sisters: LaVonne, Betty and Alice LaVonne; and three brothers: Vincent, Donald and M. B. Ryan.
