Services held for June Christopher on Tuesday, March 11

Memorial services for June Christopher were held at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 11 at Schluter-Balik Funeral Home in Decorah. Interment was in Bluffton Cemetery in rural Bluffton.

June 72, died Friday, March 7, 2003 at the Winneshiek Memorial Hospital of multiple health complications.

June Marie Christopher was born June 3, 1930 the daughter of August and Beatrice (Saunders) Bergmann in their Bluffton home. She attended several area schools through the eighth grade. She then went to work for several local families, helping with children and chores.

She married Larry Christopher and they farmed for many years. In later years, June moved to Decorah. She did volunteer work at the Aase Haugen Home.

June had several lengthy hospital stays at the LaCrosse Gundersen Lutheran Hospital. In 2002, she moved into the Aase Haugen Home.

She is survived by two sons: Eber of Mt. Vernon, MO and Tim of Decorah; one daughter: Susie McConnell of Decorah; brothers and sisters: John of Denver, Marvin of Bluffton, Evelyn Hogenson of Decorah, Ruth Logsdon of Decorah, Marguerite Perkins of Loma, CO, Karlie of Hesper, Rosemary Christopher of Fountain, MN, Fred of Powderville, MT, and Faye Marlow of Bluffton; along with grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

June was preceded in death by her husband Larry; her parents; two sisters: Kathleen Rakow and Marjorie Darling; and one brother: Alvie.
