Services held for Marie Bullerman
Funeral services for Marie Bullerman of Alta Vista were held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, June 3 at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Alta Vista with Rev. John Hemann officiating. Interment was in Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Alta Vista. Her children and their spouses placed the pall. Pallbearers were: Dean and Dale Kuennen, Steven Bullerman, Kevin and Karl Kuennen, Kyle Bullerman, and Joe Zweibohmer. Conway-Kolbet Funeral Home handled the arrangements.
Marie, 96, died Friday, May 30, 2003 at Colonial Manor in Elma of natural causes.
Marie Bernadine Bullerman was born September 22, 1906 on a farm SE of Ossian, the daughter of Henry H. and Margaret (Moellers) Zweibohmer. She received her education at St Francis DeSales Catholic School in Ossian. Following her schooling she helped on the family farm.
On January 26, 1931 she married John Bullerman at St. Francis DeSales Catholic Church in Ossian. They farmed in the Ossian area before moving to a farm near Alta Vista in 1939 where they farmed until her husband’s death in 1963. She remained on the farm until moving to Alta Vista in 1972. She went to work for Melvin Johnson at Johnson’s produce in 1973 retiring in 1988.
She was a member of St. Bernard Catholic Church and the Rosary Society.
She enjoyed being on the farm, sewing, gardening, and yard work.
She is survived by three children: Richard of Waterloo, Arlene Kuennen of Cresco, and Cletus of Elma; 10 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren; one brother: Gustave of Decorah; and three sisters: Josephine Bullerman of Decorah, Helen Freidhof of New Hampton, and Rita Timp of Ft. Atkinson.
Marie was preceded in death by her husband John on February 1, 1963; one daughter: Marie in infancy; five brothers: Hugo, Felix, Hubert, Alphonse, and Aloysius, and one sister: Elizabeth Rust.
