Ruth E. Spilde Dinger, age 90, of Decorah, Iowa, died Tuesday, May 26, 2009 at Wellington Place in Decorah following a long illness.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Friday, May 29, 2009 at the Chapel in Wellington Place in Decorah by Rev. Douglas L. Mathison with burial in Phelps Cemetery in Decorah.
Visitation will begin at 9:00 A.M. Friday, one hour before services, at Wellington Place. Fjelstul Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Ruth Evelyn Spilde Dinger was born June 13, 1918, in Pleasant Township, Winneshiek County, Iowa, the daughter of Hans O. and Inga L. (Larson) Spilde. She attended rural school through the eighth grade.
She worked for many years cleaning homes for people as their housekeeper. Ruth lived in Decorah with Tolina Hanson, then Frank and Martha Bernatz, and then Robert and Trudy Bernatz. She also worked at Winneshiek County Memorial Hospital as a housekeeper and in the laundry department from September 1969 to December 1983.
Ruth was united in marriage to Clem Dinger on August 8, 1987 at Decorah Lutheran Church. They enjoyed dancing and playing cards. She also liked to watch television.
Ruth became a resident of Wellington Place in Decorah on August 2, 1999. She was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters: Edith Bakken, Emma Jane Davis and Marjorie Kapell; and by one brother, Raymond Spilde.
Ruth is survived by her husband, Clem Dinger of Decorah; and she will be remembered and missed by members of the Bernatz and Cassady families.
