Nora L. Sharp, age 98, of Decorah, Iowa, died Tuesday, August 15, 2006 at Winneshiek Medical Center in Decorah following a brief illness.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, August 19, 2006 at Decorah Lutheran Church by Rev. James Glesne, Rev. Bryan Robertson and Rev. Allen Vik, with burial in Phelps Cemetery in Decorah.

Friends may call from 4:00-7:00 P.M. Friday, August 18, 2006 at Fjelstul Funeral Home in Decorah and after 10:00 A.M. Saturday at the church.

Nora L. Sharp was born March 7, 1908 in Freeport, Iowa, the daughter of James Allen and Mabel (Sorenson) Headington. She was baptized August 9, 1908 at Freeport United Methodist Church.

She was united in marriage with Walter Sharp on November 25, 1941 in Jackson County, Missouri. He preceded her in death on March 8, 1956.

Nora worked as a cook at the O.K. Café in downtown Decorah and later in Food Service at Luther College. Nora loved small children and after her retirement, she spent a number of years babysitting for several families in Decorah.

Nora was an excellent cook and she made many “from scratch” meals for family and friends over the years. She worked hard all of her life, enjoyed house cleaning and was especially fond of flowers. Nora was a member of Decorah Lutheran Church and the Church Circle.

Survivors include a brother, Milo (Florence) Headington of Freeport, IA; one stepdaughter, Shirley Sharp of Minneapolis, MN; one step daughter-in-law, Anne Sharp of Minneapolis, MN; three step granddaughters, Elaine (Jerry) Thompson of Decorah, Susan (Kevin) Jordan of Minneapolis, MN, and Barb Games of Heber City, Utah; four step grandsons, Ed (Ann) Roed of Waukon, IA, Steve (Stephanie) Sharp of Coon Rapids, MN, Scott (Laura) Sharp of Blaine, MN, and Randy (Keri) Sharp of La Crescent, MN; fourteen great grandchildren, John (Martha) Thompson of Minneapolis, MN., James (Stacy)Thompson of Grundy Center, IA., Jay (Nikki) Thompson of Decorah, IA., Brenda (Todd) Fisher of Waterloo, IA., Brian (Wendi) Roed of Waterloo, IA.; Matt (Holly), Jesse (Josh), Katie, Nicci Sharp of Minneapolis, MN., Jake & Dustin Sharp of LaCrescent, MN., Madison & Hadley Jordan of Minneapolis, and Corey Games of Heber City, Utah; many great-great grandchildren; two nephews, Larry (Diane) Headington of Decorah, IA, Steve Headington of Ossian, IA; four nieces, Mary Jane (Newt) Pawley of Powell, WY, Virginia (Dan) DeLeon of Powell, WY, Marilyn Selig of Calmar, IA and Rosalynn (Rusty) Samuelson of Decorah.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her stepmother, Phoebe Headington; three sisters, Maythel Headington, Phoebe Jeanette Hensel and Gail Hartley; one brother, James Benjamin Headington; and three stepchildren, Edna Roed, M. Curtis Sharp and Raymond Sharp

Memorials may be given to a charity of the donor’s choice.
