Ruth A. Ruffridge, age 92, of Decorah, Iowa, died Sunday November 12, 2006 at Oneota Riverview Care Facility in Decorah of complications of advanced age.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, November 15, 2006 at First Lutheran Church in Decorah by Rev. Steven M. Jacobsen and Rev. H.G. Engebretson, with burial in Lutheran Cemetery in Decorah.

Friends may call from 4:00-7:00 P.M. Tuesday at the Fireside Room of First Lutheran Church and an hour prior to the services at the church. Fjelstul Funeral Home of Decorah is in charge of the arrangements.

Ruth Agnes Ruffridge was born July 3, 1914 in Sawyer, North Dakota, the daughter of Peter and Anna (Hoisoyen) Wold. At the age of seven, she moved to Decorah and was adopted by Ole and Amelia Berg. She attended Decorah Community Schools.

Ruth was united in marriage with Arlin G. Ruffridge on March 6, 1932 at First Lutheran Church in Decorah and they were married for 55 years. This union was blessed by five children: Robert, Arlys, Audrey, Norma and Mary Jo.

Ruth was a homemaker and also did house cleaning and laundry for other families. She also worked at the Depot Outlet Store in Decorah for many years. She was a member of First Lutheran Church in Decorah.

She enjoyed making quilts and loved to make large braided wool rugs, several of which are in prominent Decorah homes. Ruth liked to play cards and enjoyed traveling. In 1988 she traveled to Europe to visit family in Norway and Yugoslavia. She also enjoyed family vacations to North Dakota, California and Las Vegas.

Ruth became a resident of Oneota Riverview Care Facility in 1994.

Survivors include a daughter, Norma Holthaus of Decorah, IA; twenty-three grandchildren; fifty-two great grandchildren and thirteen great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Arlin on March 31, 1987; her son, Robert Ruffridge; three daughters, Arlys Malli, Audrey Courtney and Mary Jo Natt; two grandsons, Joseph Courtney and David Malli; a great grandson Nathaniel Malli; four brothers and three sisters.
