Richard L. Rue, age 53, of Ridgeway, Iowa, died Saturday, December 8, 2007 at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester, MN of an apparent heart attack.

Funeral Services will be held at 11 A.M. Thursday, December 13, 2007 at Peace Lutheran Church in Ridgeway by Rev. Phillip Olson with burial in the Lincoln Cemetery in rural Ridgeway.

Friends may call from 5:00 – 6:30 P.M. Wednesday, December 12 at Fjelstul Funeral Home in Decorah and an hour prior to the services on Thursday at the church.

Richard Loren Rue was born January 23, 1954 in Cresco, Iowa, the son of Loren and Amy (Hovden) Rue. He was baptized March 7, 1954 by Pastor O. Hoven at Lincoln Lutheran Church and was confirmed May 18, 1969 by Rev. LaMoine Jacobs at Orleans Lutheran Church. He grew up in Ridgeway, Iowa and graduated from Crestwood High School in Cresco with the class of 1972.

Through the years Richard worked as a bail bondsman, as an installer for S&D Satellites and on various construction projects. Richard was an avid fisherman and some of his most memorable times fishing were those spent on Lake Michigan. He enjoyed the outdoors and loved to hunt, with both bow and arrow and rifle. Richard had a talent of taking things apart and then being able to put them back together. He was very handy and could fix almost anything. Richard was also quite a chef and found pleasure in cooking a variety of dishes. He was a member of Peace Lutheran Church.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Ole and Lena Rue and Henry and Netta Hovden; and by two uncles, Malcom Rue and Verne Hovden.

Richard is survived by his parents, Loren and Amy Rue of Decorah, Iowa; his two sisters, Sally Birk and brother-in-law Marty of Pleasanton, California and Marsha Jacobsmeyer and brother-in-law Hugo of Boise, Idaho; three nephews, Aaron Jacobsmeyer and wife Emily of American Fork, Utah, Adam Jacobsmeyer and wife Katie of Highlands Ranch, Colorado, and Eric Jacobsmeyer and wife Keri of Highlands Ranch, Colorado; a niece Emily Berbert and her husband Chris of Orem, Utah; plus three great nephews and seven great nieces. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

He really enjoyed all of his family and they would like to thank all of his good friends for their loving support. Richard will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
