Frederic P. Reum, age 93, of Decorah, Iowa, died Thursday, March 22, 2007 at Wellington Place in Decorah.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, March 27, 2007 at Fjelstul Funeral Home in Decorah. Burial with Full Military honors will be in Phelps Cemetery in Decorah.

Friends may call after 10:00 A.M. Tuesday at the Funeral Home.

Frederic Portman Reum was born March 6, 1914 in Decorah, Iowa, the son of Fred C. and Catherine (Portman) Reum. He graduated from Decorah High School with the Class of 1931.

He was united in marriage to Alice Thompson at the United Methodist Church in Decorah. This union was blessed with two children: Michael and Chris.

Frederic began his career as a Master Mechanic in California working there for two years. In Decorah, he was employed by Bradley Auto, Hattlestad Motors, Dahly Chevrolet and Fred Carlson Company.

Frederic served his country in the United States Army during World War II. He was inducted on January 9, 1942, attended Tank Maintenance School at Fort Knox, Kentucky and served in the European and Pacific theaters of operation. He was awarded the European African Middle Eastern Campaign Medal, Asiatic Campaign Medal, Philippine Liberation Ribbon, American Campaign Medal and a Good Conduct Medal. He was honorably discharged as a Master Sergeant on January 28, 1946.

His memberships included Grace Episcopal Church, Helof Holm V.F.W. Post No. 1977, and Great Lights Masonic Lodge, all of Decorah.

Frederic became a resident of Wellington Place on February 20, 2007.

Survivors include his wife, Alice of Decorah; two sons, Michael Reum of Denver, Colorado and Chris Reum of Phoenix, Arizona; four grandsons, Matthew Reum, Mitchell Reum, Frederic Reum and Christopher Reum; two granddaughters, Catherine Reum and Victoria Reum; five sisters-in-law, Margaret Swanson of West Richland, Washington, LaVerne Tiernan of Decorah, Darlene (Vernon) Vine of Decorah, Beverly (Edward) Dickman of Jean, Nevada and Ruth Thompson of Decorah.

Frederic was preceded in death by his parents.
