Raymond Peck, age 69, of Decorah, Iowa, died on Monday, March 20, 2006, at the Postville Good Samaritan Home in Postville, Iowa, following a short illness.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 25, 2006, at 10:30 a.m. at the Schluter – Balik Funeral Home in Decorah, Iowa, with Rev. Steven Jacobsen, from the First Lutheran Church in Decorah. Burial will be in the Frankville Cemetery, Frankville, Iowa. There will be full military rites at the graveside by the Helof – Holm VFW Post #1977, Bernatz-Symonds Am. Legion Post #163, Hamre-Giesen DAV Chapter #8 and the AmVets Post #96.
Friends may call after 9:00 a.m. on Saturday at the Schluter – Balik Funeral Home in Decorah.
Raymond Lester Peck was born on June 15, 1936, near Ossian, Iowa, the son of Walter and Helen (Lewis) Peck. Raymond was baptized on Oct. 25, 1936 and confirmed on June 14, 1953 at the Ossian Lutheran Church. He graduated from Ossian High School on May 23, 1957. Ray served in the US Army from June 25, 1959 to April 24, 1961. He married Esther Styve on May 16, 1970 at the First Lutheran Church in Decorah, Iowa. Ray worked for the Frankville Creamery, Walt Hovey and for Bolson Feeds. Ray was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Decorah. He enjoyed dogs and especially loved his Pomeranian dog, Minnie.
Ray’s survivors include his wife, Esther Peck; One sister, Shirley Hageman, and one brother, Roger Peck, all of Decorah, Iowa.
Ray was preceded in death by his parents; his step-father and one brother, Robert Peck.
