CRESCO - Carol Banks, 67, of Cresco died Thursday, Nov. 8, 2012 at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester, Minn.

Family will greet friends from 4-8 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 15, 2012 at the Lindstrom Funeral Home in Cresco. No other public services will be held. A private family inurnment will be held in the Burr Oak Cemetery in Burr Oak, Iowa at a later date.

Carol Banks, 67, of Cresco, Iowa, passed away on Thursday, Nov. 8, 2012 at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester, Minn.

Carol was born in Spring Grove Minn. on Nov. 21, 1944 to Rolland and Rose (Kimber) Stockman. Growing up she attended rural schools and later the Lime Springs, Iowa public school as her family later settled there.

Carol relocated to Rochester as a young woman and worked in the restaurant and cleaning fields. This is where she began her family with the birth of two sons and married Dennis Delaney. In 1966 she was married to Donald Banks of Pine Island, Minn., and three more boys were born over the next five years. They separated in 1974 and Carol was tasked with raising her beloved five sons, who were the center of her life and her proudest of achievements.

As time passed and her sons were grown she found herself returning to the Lime Springs area where she was a clerk at a local gas station and truck stop. It is here she met hundreds of friends who enjoyed her entertaining personality. Carol’s next move was to Cresco, where she was employed with Featherlite until her retirement.

Carol loved her freedom and liked to stay busy, driving her car almost every day and going shopping, visiting and running errands. She also enjoyed the company of her friends and family including 16 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She was a member of the Methodist Church in Lime Springs.

She is survived by her sons, Rick (Jeanette) of Preston, Minn., Dan of Mabel, Minn., Don (Heidi) of Rushford, Minn., Marc (Lynette) of Waucoma, Iowa and Randy (Patty) of Cresco; two sisters, Henrietta (Ronald) Engelhardt of Decorah, Iowa and Evelyn (Dale) Quam of Decorah; two brothers, Roger (Tina) of Yuca Vally, Calif. and Marc (Maxine) of Lime Springs; two aunts, Kathleen Powers and Vivian Kimber; and two uncles, Robert and Gail Kimber.

She was preceeded in death by her parents, a sister Betty, and two brothers, Ronald and Larry.

Family will greet friends from 4:00-8:00 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 15, 2012 at Lindstrom Funeral Home in Cresco. No other public services are scheduled to be held. Her cremated remains will be laid to rest at Burr Oak Cemetery in Burr Oak, Iowa, during a private family burial at a later date.
