Laura Miller, age 104, of Festina, Iowa, died on Monday, August 4, 2008, at the Good Samaritan Center in West Union, Iowa, following a short illness.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, August 8, 2008, at Our Lady of Seven Dolors Catholic Church in Festina, Iowa, with Monsignor Cletus Hawes officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Friends may call after 9:00 a.m. at the Festina Parish Center on Friday morning.

Laura Miller was born on November 12, 1903, the daughter of William and Veronica (Leibold) Miller on the family farm near Festina, Iowa. Laura attended St. Mary’s Catholic School in Festina. Laura and her family farmed the family farm and she lived all her life in the Festina area. Laura always had a large garden; canning and freezing the produce. She enjoyed and always had beautiful flower gardens, especially roses. During her spare time, she crocheted and embroidered. In 1974, she moved into Festina and enjoyed gardening and fishing. In October 2000, she entered the Good Samaritan Home in West Union. Laura was a member of Our Lady of Seven Dolors Catholic Church and the Rosary Society.

Laura’s survivors include two nieces: Helen (George, deceased) Halstead and Mildred (Charles) Langreck, both of West Union, IA. One nephew: Elmer (Jeanette) Buchheit, Ossian, IA. Seventeen great nieces and nephews and thirty-eight great great nieces and nephews.

Laura was preceded in death by her parents: William and Veronica Miller. Two brothers: Joseph and Ervin Miller. Two sisters: Verena (Nicholas) Buchheit and Teresa Miller.
