Marjorie E. Mason, age 68, of Decorah, Iowa, died Saturday, April 1, 2006 at Oneota Riverview Care Facility in Decorah at the age of 68 years after a valiant battle with cancer.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, April 5, 2006 at Grace Fellowship Church in Decorah by Rev. Michael McCann, with burial in Freeport Cemetery, Freeport, Iowa.
Friends may call from 4:00-7:00 P.M. Tuesday, April 4, 2006 at Fjelstul Funeral Home and an hour prior to the services on Wednesday at the church.
Memorials may be directed to the American Cancer Society.
Marjorie E. Mason was born October 16, 1937 in Grants Pass, Oregon, the daughter of Joseph Clayton and Lenora Elizabeth (Dunn) Haskit and raised on the family farm near Welch, Oklahoma. She was educated in the Welch Schools.
She was united in marriage to Donald D. White in 1955 in Tulsa, OK. To this union, three children were born: Stephanie, Donna and Donald. She later married Raymond J. Mason on November 29, 1985 in Downey, California.
Marjorie worked as a receptionist for a time but spent most of her time working as a homemaker and raising her family. She and Ray relocated to Decorah in 2000.
She was a member of Grace Fellowship Church in Decorah and enjoyed arts and crafts, sewing and bowling. When her children were younger, Marjorie was actively involved in Parent Teacher Association; she served as a Girl Scout leader and taught Sunday school for many years. She and Ray enjoyed spending time together and traveling.
She is survived by her husband, Raymond of Decorah; two daughters, Stephanie G. White of Tulsa, OK, Donna D. White of Providence, R.I.; a son, Donald D. (Lisa) White Jr. of Edmond, OK; two step daughters, Leslie Elizabeth (Raul) Martinez of Fountain Valley, CA; Susan H. Grana of California; a step son, Clayton R. Mason and his fiancé Linda Stanger of Decorah, IA; two grandchildren, Christopher and Nicholas White; eight step grandchildren; two step great-grandchildren; seven sisters, Ruth Rains of Sand Springs, OK, Violet (Bill) Blair of Cheyenne, WY, Lucille (Harold) Kimrey of Lenapah, OK, Virginia (Paul) Meyer of Lenapah, OK, Betty (J.W.) Ray of Broken Arrow, OK, Coleen (Bud) Tatum of Vidan, MS and Linda (Randy) Edwards of Canyon, TX; two brothers, David (Anita) Haskit of Enid, OK and Joe (Roberta) Haskit of Enid, OK.
Marjorie was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter-in-law, Sarah Mason; an infant brother, Paul; a brother James Haskit and a sister, Lorna Mason.
