Bernard Johnson Funeral Services Held Sept. 27
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Sept. 27 at 2 p.m. at Canoe Ridge Lutheran Church for Bernard Edward Johnson, 62, Pleasant Township farmer who lost his life in a tractor accident at his home Friday, Sept. 23.
Pastor James Jensen officiated, and Virginia Faldet was organist. Burial was in the Canoe Ridge cemetery with the following serving as pallbearers; Richard Nelson, Leonard Roffman, Tommy Otteson, Elmer Helgeson, Kenneth Nordheim and Roy Halvorson. Arrangements were made by Steine Funeral Home.
Mr. Johnson is survived by his wife, the former Gladys Sivesind; six sons and daughters, John Johnson, Cedar Rapids, Susan Johnson, Decorah, Steven Johnson, Green Bay, Wis., Douglas Johnson, at home. Becky Crotser, Denver, Colo. and Sally at home; two grandchildren; two brothers, Leonard Johnson, Richland Center, Wis. and Melvin Johnson, Union Center, Wis., and five sisters, Lucile Anderson, Elroy, Wis., Peggy Johnson, Doris Fairbrother and Ethelyn Kerschner, all of Richland Center, Wis. and Gladys Ferguson of Beloit, Wis.
Bernard Edward Johnson was born May 15, 1915 at Wonewoc, Wis., the son of Mr. and Mrs. John E. Johnson. He came to Iowa in 1945 and farmed the rest of his life in Pleasant Township. He was a veteran of World War II and served 27 months in North Africa, Italy and Sicily. He was married April 9, 1942.
Mr. Johnson was a member of Canoe Ridge Lutheran Church.
