Stella Rasmussen rites held Jan. 28

Stella C. Rasmussen, 95, of Decorah died Jan. 25 at the Winneshiek County Memorial Hospital in Decorah.

Funeral services were held Monday, Jan. 28 at 2 p.m. at Canoe Ridge Lutheran Church, with Pastor Donald L. Berg officiating. Virginia Faldet was organist. Steine's Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements with burial at the Canoe Ridge Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Alan Rassmussen, Craig Rasmussen, Dean Rassmussen, Gary Rassmussen, Ronald Rassmussen and Robert Brynsaas.

Stella Rosendahl was born on Jan. 5, 1890 in Winneshiek County, daughter of Chris and Hansina (Enner) Rosendahl. She was educated in the rural schools of Winneshiek County and married Jens Rassmussen on April 29, 1909. He preceded her in death on Jan. 28, 1947. Mrs. Rasmussen had lived in the Decorah area her entire life. She was a member of the Canoe Ridge Lutheran Church and the ALCW.

She is survived by eight children, Ray and Lester Rassmussen, Mae (Mrs. Norman) Brynsaas, Selma (Mrs. Russell) Nelson, and Ervin Rassmussen, and Marlyn Rasmussen, all of Decorah, Vernon Rassmussen of Mabel, Minn., and Henrietta Sundby of Decorah; 18 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Lawrence and Gilbert Rosendahl, both of Decorah.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two children in infancy, one brother and one sister.
