Lifelong resident, Phoebe Duemmer, 90, dies Nov. 29.
A lifelong resident of Winneshiek County, Phoebe M. Duemmer, 90, died at her home in rural Decorah, Nov. 29, 1978.
Funeral services were held at Canoe Methodist Church where she was a member on Saturday, Dec. 2. Pastor David Ash officiated at the 2 p.m. service. Organist was Elwin Mack and soloists were Renae and Elwin Mack. Steine's Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Burial was in the church cemetery. Pallbearers were Elmer Dresselhaus, Selmer Larson, Leo Peterson, Bennie Benson, Clem Dinger and Raymond Sorenson.
Phoebe M. Dinger was born March 15, 1888 in Pleasant Township to Peter and Mary Ann Dinger. She was educated in rural schools. In 1907 she married Ben Duemmer in Pleasant Township. He preceded her in death in 1942. Three sisters also preceded her in death.
One daughter survives, Mrs. Chester (Elsie) Erickson of Decorah.
