Elsie Erickson, age 92, of Decorah, died Thursday, Nov. 7, 2002 at the Aase Haugen Nursing Home in Decorah following a long illness.

Funeral services were held Monday, Nov. 11 at 11 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Decorah with Rev. Carol Kress officiating.

Organist was Rev. Kristen Kvamme.

Casketbearers were Glen Barth, Gary Barth, Al Erickson, Duane Barth, Harlan Erickson and Norman Hjelmeland.

Interment was in the Canoe Methodist Cemetery, Decorah. Schluter-Balik Funeral Home of Decorah handled arrangements.

Elsie F. (Duemmer) Erickson was born March 16, 1910, the daughter of Ben and Phoebe (Dinger) Duemmer in Canoe Township, rural Decorah.

She attended country school and Decorah High School.

Elsie Erickson worked at Wapsie Produce from Sept 30, 1936 until she retired in 1974.

She married Chester Erickson Oct. 23, 1946 at the First Methodist Church, Decorah.

One of Elsie Erickson's greatest joys was to take care of the Canoe Methodist Church and yard.

In 1986, she had a fall and had been a resident of Aase Haugen Nursing Home ever since.

Elsie loved her dogs, animals, gardening and being busy on the farm.

She was a lifetime member of the United Methodist Church and a member of the Canoe Methodist Cemetery Association.

Survivors include her two sisters-in-law; Vivian Barth and Leona Roher, Decorah; two brothers-in-law; Harold Erickson of Mabel, Minn., and Art Erickson, Decorah; many nieces and nephews and her family at the Aase Haugen Nursing Home.

Elsie F. (Duemmer) Erickson was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Chester Erickson, in 1992
