Donald Brockway

Funeral services for Donald W. Brockway, 55, were held Tuesday, July 15, 1980 at 11 a.m. at the Community Presbyterian Church in Postville. The Rev. Curtis Webster officiated. Schutte Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Burial was in Pleasant View Cemetery at Castalia.

Donald Walter Brockway, son of Walter and Ruby (Sellers) Brockway, was born Nov. 29, 1924 at Hawkeye, Iowa. He died July 12, 1980 as the result of an automobile accident near West Union.

He graduated from West Union High School in 1942 and served in the U.S. Army during WW II in the North African and European Campaigns. March 6, 1947 he was married to Rosemary Cline in the Little Brown Church at Nashua, Iowa. They farmed in the Castalia and Postville area until 1967 when he began working for the Postville Feed Mill.

He was a member of the United Methodist Church at Castalia and the American Legion in Postville.

Preceding him in death were his parents, a grandson and granddaughter. Surviving are his wife; 3 sons, Donald (Jr.) of Preston, Minn., Larry and Gary, both of Castalia; 2 daughters, Mrs. Larry (Dawn) Lechtenberg of Festina, and Mrs. Tom (Jeri) Humpal of Ridgeway; 13 grandchildren; 4 brothers, Raymond of Hawkeye, Walter of Waterloo, George of Tripoli and Russell of Warrenburg, Mo.; and 4 sisters, Mrs. Raymond (Donna) Senner and Mrs. Mike (Imogene) Scott, both of West Union, Mrs. Robert (Carol) Young of Cedar Falls and Mrs. Don (Juanita) Petersen of Waterloo.
