Gladys M. Jennerjohn, age 84, of Decorah, IA, died Saturday evening, August 7, 2010 at Wellington Place in Decorah.

Memorial Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday, August 13, 2010 at Decorah Lutheran Church with Rev. Bryan Robertson and Rev. Julie Fiske officiating. Burial will be in Lutheran Cemetery in Decorah at 9:00 A.M. Friday morning.

Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M. Thursday, August 12 at Fjelstul Funeral Home in Decorah and on Friday one hour before the service at the church.

Gladys M. Jennerjohn was born November 10, 1925 in Decorah, Iowa, the daughter of Gilbert and Minnie (Nelson) Blekeberg. She attended Decorah High School and X-ray technology school in Chicago, IL.

Gladys was united in marriage to John Edward Jennerjohn of McGregor, Iowa on August 23, 1950 at Decorah Lutheran Church in Decorah, Iowa. This union was blessed with two sons: Paul and Philip.

Gladys worked as an X-ray technician at the Decorah Hospital and as an assistant to a local dentist, Dr. Blodgett. She also worked as a bookkeeper for the Decorah Creamery and then for Jennerjohn & Holthaus Drilling, Inc.

Gladys and John wintered in Bonita Springs, FL since 1987. They were members of Spanish Wells Country Club in Bonita Springs, Christus Victor Lutheran Church in Bonita Springs and Decorah Lutheran Church. Gladys had taught Sunday school at Decorah Lutheran Church for over 25 years. While in Bonita Springs, Gladys volunteered by teaching English to immigrants.

She enjoyed garage sales, antiquing, making braided rugs, volunteering and golfing (achieving two hole in ones).

Gladys was preceded in death by her parents: her husband, John on October 31, 2008; one brother, Gerald “Bud” Blekeberg; and one sister, Marjorie Blekeberg.

Gladys is survived by her sons: Paul E. (Rhonda) Jennerjohn of Seattle, WA and Philip K. (Noelle) Jennerjohn of Green Bay, WI; her grandchildren: Anna, Lauren and Joshua; her sisters: Shirley (William) Kramer of Des Moines, IA, Phyllis Rosendahl of Des Moines, IA and Karen (Les) Guttebo of Decorah, IA; and sister-in-law, Erma Mae Baumgartner of Bonita Springs, FL.
