Ingrie A. Iverson, age 90, of Decorah, Iowa, died Monday, December 15, 2008 at Aase Haugen Home in Decorah following a long illness.
Memorial Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Thursday, December 18, 2008 at Fjelstul Funeral Home in Decorah by Rev. O. Paul Hougen with inurnment in Hauge Lutheran Cemetery in rural Decorah in the spring.
Visitation is from 1:00 – 2:00 P.M. Thursday, December 18 at Fjelstul Funeral Home.
Ingrie Anna Iverson was born at home on the family farm in Canoe Township on March 22, 1918, the daughter of Knut and Clara (Selness) Iverson. She was baptized at home and confirmed at Hauge Lutheran Church. Ingrie attended the Knoke School in Canoe Township and had to leave school at a young age to care for her sick mother.
After the death of her mother, Ingrie kept house for her dad, her brother, Lester, and the rest of the kids. She was the caregiver for the family and enjoyed doing all of the cooking and baking. Her favorites were breads, desserts and pies. She also cared for the dog and several cats, her pets, and babysat and cared for nieces and nephews. She also liked music, singing and dancing. Ingrie remembered everyone’s birthdays. She was a member of Hauge Lutheran Church, including Ladies Aid and Circle.
Ingrie became a resident of the Aase Haugen Home on March 11, 2002. She was preceded in death by her mother, Clara on February 12, 1941; her father, Knut on April 1, 1956; her sister, Charlotte Iverson, on February 22, 1989; and her brother, Lester Iverson, on March 20, 1991.
Ingrie is survived by two sisters, Ethel Iverson of Decorah, IA, and Ruth Sherry of Spring Grove, MN; four nieces, three nephews and numerous grandnieces and –nephews.
