Funeral services for Marion K. Wicks, 69, of Decorah, were held Saturday, June 26, at 10:30 a.m. at Decorah Lutheran Church, with Rev. John V. Halvorson officiating.
Burial was at the Springwater Cemetery. The Fjelstul Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Pallbearers were John N. Morstad, Roger Pahl, Art Price, Dean Price, Sonny Thompson and Eugene Wicks. Honorory pallbearers were I.O.O.F. Lodge members.
Organist was Diane Kvamme. The congregation sang "Rock of Age," "Beautiful Savior" and "What A Friend We Have in Jesus,"
Marion K Wicks was bron April 8, 1924, the son of Clude and Olive (Olson) Wicks in Burr Oak. He was baptized June 30, 1947, and confirmed July 6, 1947, both at Decorah Lutheran Church by Rev. M.A. Egge. He graduated from Canton High School in Canton, Minn., in 1941
He married Glorianne Narveson Nov. 10, 1950, at Decorah Lutheran Church. He worked at Scenic Hawkeye Stages as a bus driver for 1950-1964. From 1964 until 1976 he worked at Luther College in the maintenance department and drove a bus part-time. He then worked part-time at Luther College, retiring in 1980.
He was a member of Decorah Lutheran Church and the I.O.O.F. He liked sports, bowling and fishing. He had been a resident of the Aase Haugen Home since Nov. 13, 1987. He died there June 24, 1993.
Survivors include his wife, Glorianne; childen Janet and Dan McMillan of Waukon, Darrel and Rosanne Wicks of Waukon, Loren and Brenda Wicks of Rochester, Minn., Richard and Ruth Ann Wicks of Waukon, and Scott and Ronda Wicks of Ames; grandchildren Jamie Wicks, Milissa Wicks, Derek Wicks and Katie McMillan; two brothers, Marvin and Ginny Wicks of Eyota, Minn., and Leonard and Joan Wicks of Cresco; and one sister, Marie and Paul Snyder of Kalona.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, Harley, in infancy.
