Car Upset Kills Lilly Thompson; Rites Saturday
Funeral services will be held Saturday afernoon for Miss Lilly Thompson, 50, who died Tuesday at the Decorah hospital following an automobile accident in which she received serious pelvic injuries. The accident occurred Monday afternoon about four miles out on the Locust road. She was on her way home, riding with her neighbor, Fred Thompson. Mr. Thompson reports that an approaching car forced him off the road and his car overturned and she was crushed. Mr. Thompson was injured slightly. Despite the similarity of their names, they were not related although they had been neighbors for many years and Miss Thompson frequently rode into town with Mr. Thompson.
The funeral services will be held at the Fjelstul funeral home at 1:30 p.m. and at the Springwater church at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Oliver Fjeldstad officiating.
Miss Thompson ws born July 17,1893, a daughter of Matt and Lizzie Thompson. She is survived by her 92-year-old mother, who made her home with her daughter; one sister , Mrs. Sarah Sande of Decorah; and six brothers, Thorwald of Ostrander, Minn., and Louis, John, Ole, Helmer, and Ben, all of Decorah.
This tragic accident concluded a life of unselfish service to others, especially to her mother for whom she had cared for many years.
