Theodore Narveson, Retired Farmer, Dies at Age 93

Theodore C. Narveson, retired farmer, died December 1 at his home at 606 Maple Ave. at the age of 93. A native of Canoe Township, Mr. Narveson had farmed in North Dakota six years before returning to Winneshiek County and Decorah 15 years ago.

Funeral services were held Monday, Dec. 3 at 2 p.m. at Decorah Lutheran Church with burial in the Springwater Lutheran Cemetery. Pastor John Pannkuk conducted final rites with music furnished by Mrs. Otto Ruen who played the organ and accompanied the congregation as they sang hymns.

Pallbearers were Stanton Erickson, Chester Erickson, Robert Hjelmeland, Harold Erickson, Selmer Larson and Glen Larson. Arrangements were made by Steine Funeral Home.

Mr. Narveson is survived by his wife, Ellen; three daughters, Mrs. Truman (Eunice) Kirkeby, Decorah, Mrs. Gladys Aarhus, Cedar Rapids and Mrs. Marion (Glorianne) Wicks, Decorah; 10 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Harold; a daughter, Joyce; four brothers and four sisters.

Theodore Narveson was born January 24, 1880 in Canoe Township, the son of Colbjorn and Krisi Narveson. He attended rural schools and Breckenridge Business College. He was married March 20, 1907 to the former Ellen Erickson in ceremonies at the bride's home in Pleasant Township.

Mr. Narveson was a member of Decorah Lutheran Church.
