Nancy Einck, age 52, of Decorah, Iowa, died on Friday, September 18, 2009, at her daughter’s home in Decorah, Iowa, following a courageous battle with cancer.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, September 22, 2009, at St. Benedict’s Catholic Church in Decorah, Iowa, with Rev. Phillip Gibbs presiding. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Friends may call from 2:00-7:00 p.m. on Monday and on Tuesday morning from 8:00-10:00 a.m. at the Schluter – Balik Funeral Home in Decorah, Iowa.
Nancy Jo (Shimek) Einck was born on June 19, 1957, the daughter of Jerome and Lucille (Funke) Shimek in Decorah, Iowa. Nancy attended St. Wenceslaus Catholic School and graduated from South Winneshiek High School in 1975. She worked as a waitress at the Red Vest in Calmar, at Lang’s Shoes in Decorah, and at Rockwell Collins for a couple of years. For the last twenty-seven years, she has been the bookkeeper for Leon’s Auto and Truck Repair. Nancy loved decorating her home, painting, taking care of her flower gardens and going for walks. Nancy cared deeply for everyone’s well-being, putting everyone ahead of herself and was as funny as she was sweet. Nancy was a member of St. Benedict’s Catholic Church and St. Lawrence Circle.
Nancy is survived by her husband: Leon Einck, Decorah, IA. Two daughters: Carmen (Shawn) Krivachek, Decorah, IA and Christin (Nick) Carlson, Onalaska, WI. One son: Shane (friend, Mallory Horsfall) Einck, Decorah, IA. Two grandchildren: Brayden and Brinley Krivachek. Her parents: Jerome and Lucille Shimek, Spillville, IA. Eight brothers: Francis (Noi) Shimek, Rosamond, CA; Edward (Julie) Shimek, Spillville, IA; Ronald (Connie) Shimek, Nora Springs, IA; Rick (Jenny) Shimek, Ossian, IA; Stanley (Janean) Shimek, Calmar, IA; Mark Shimek, Spillville, IA; Gary (Chris Frana) Shimek, Calmar, IA and Kenny (Cathy) Shimek, Fort Atkinson, IA. Three sisters: Barbara (Leo) Massman, Waverly, IA; Mary Lou (Donald) Lensing, Decorah, IA and Judy (Carroll “CJ”) Lensing, Decorah, IA. Her mother-in-law: Winifred Einck, Decorah, IA. Five brothers-in-law: Gerald (Beth) Einck, Decorah, IA; Ray (Judy) Einck, San Francisco, CA; Denny (Kathy) Einck, Wabasha, MN; Norman (Cindy) Einck, West Union, IA and Kenny “Ace” (Sue) Einck, Festina, IA, along with many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews and great aunts and uncles.
Nancy was preceded in death by her father-in-law: Herbert Einck in April 2000. One brother-in-law: Joseph Einck. One niece: Brenda Einck and one nephew: Brian Einck.
