Frances R. (Frannie) Carmack, age 84, of Decorah, IA, died Sunday, May 16, 2010 at Winneshiek Medical Center in Decorah.
Private Family Graveside Services will be held at a later date at Bluffton Cemetery in Bluffton, IA. Fjelstul Funeral Home in Decorah is in charge of the arrangements.
Frances Ruth (Brandt) Carmack was born December 17, 1925, the daughter of John H. and Laura C. (Marcy) Brandt in Decorah, Iowa. She attended Decorah High School.
Frannie was united in marriage to Gail W. Carmack on July 27, 1943 in Floyd, Iowa. This union was blessed with two children: Gaylon and Carol.
She worked at Wapsie Produce in Decorah for many years and then in the Bakery at K&S Super Valu also for many years until her retirement.
Frannie loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, gardening, travel, dancing, euchre and she was a very good cook. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Decorah.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Gail, on April 7, 1988; and one sister, Audrey Miller.
Frannie is survived by her son, Gaylon Carmack (Wabasha, MN) and daughter-in-law, Marcia Carmack (Rochester, MN); her daughter, Carol (Clayton) Ashworth of Reno, NV; five grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren: Richard (Sarah) Carmack and their children Rachel and Allison of Byron, MN, Michele Carmack Beecher (Mike) and their children Ryan, Joshua and Andrew of Stewartville, MN, Tony Harrah and his children Walker and Colton of Reno, NV; Daniel (Lisa) Francis and their children Aaron and Brandi of Ft. Worth, TX, and Timothy Francis and daughter Jazzy of New Orleans, LA; one niece, Sandy Miller; one nephew, Lee Wilhelm; and by her special friend, Norris Aschem.
