Margaret E. Buzza, age 85, of Decorah, Iowa, and formerly of Waukesha, Wisconsin, died Thursday, August 17, 2006 at Aase Haugen Home in Decorah, Iowa.
Margaret Erol (Hayden) Buzza was born on May 29, 1921 in San Francisco, California, where she grew up with her mother, Florence (Oliphant) Mowbray, and step-father, Melton Mowbray. She earned a Bachelor’s degree in English and Anthropology from The University of California at Berkeley and a Master’s Degree in Christian Education from San Francisco Theological Seminary in San Anselmo, California.
Margaret married Reverend Robert E. E. Buzza on May 18, 1945 in San Anselmo. They had two sons, Robert and James, and spent their married life in Escalon California, Hastings, Nebraska and Waukesha, Wisconsin. Along with caring for her family, Margaret devoted much of her life to working for the church. She also was employed at Carroll College in Waukesha and at the Waukesha State Bank. She had been a member of Southminster Presbyterian Church in Waukesha, Wisconsin, and was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Waukesha at the time of her death. She moved to Decorah in October 2005 to be closer to family.
Survivors include her two sons, Robert Buzza and his wife Karen Malfy, of St. Augustine, Florida and James Buzza and his wife Kathy of Decorah, Iowa and two grandsons Aaron Buzza (Crystal) and Colin Buzza. Her parents and her husband, Robert, preceded her in death.
At Margaret’s request, there will be no public service. Fjelstul Funeral Home in Decorah, Iowa is in charge of arrangements.
