Godlove Busta, age 90, of Fort Atkinson, IA, died on Tuesday, November 16, 2010, at his home.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, November 24, 2010, at St. John’s Catholic Church in Fort Atkinson, IA, with Rev. Nick March presiding. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Friends may call from 3:00-8:00 p.m. on Tuesday and until 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday morning at the Schluter - Balik Funeral Home, Chekal Chapel in Fort Atkinson, Iowa.

Godlove George Busta was born on December 6, 1919, the son of Charles and Rosa (Kovar) Busta, on the original Busta family farm west of Fort Atkinson, Iowa. Godlove attended country school west of Fort Atkinson and St. John’s Catholic School in Fort Atkinson. After schooling, Godlove helped farm on the family farm. He married Anita Kriener on September 20, 1949, at St. Luke’s Catholic Church in St. Lucas, Iowa. Together they farmed the Busta Century farm until they retired and moved into Fort Atkinson in 2007. Godlove enjoyed woodcarving, watching western movies, being outdoors on the farm and taking care of his farm animals. Godlove was a member of St. John’s Catholic Church and the Catholic Order of the Foresters, and the Farm Bureau for over fifty years.

Godlove is survived by his wife: Anita Busta, Fort Atkinson, IA. Six children: Jeanne (Dennis) Luzum, Decorah, IA; David (Connie) Busta, Decorah, IA; Susan (Robert) Fisher, Toddville, IA; Karen (Lonnie) Humpal, Decorah, IA; Steve (Laura) Busta, Fort Atkinson, IA; and Brian (Joan) Busta, Fort Atkinson, IA. Twenty-three grandchildren: Jeffrey (Julie) Luzum, Deborah (Patrick) O’Shea, Julie Luzum, & Daniel Luzum; Michael Busta & Thomas (Hon) Busta; Christopher (Andria) Fisher, Sara (San) Havan, Ryan Fisher, Eric Fisher & Rachel Fisher; Melissa (Benjamin) Fisher, Ashley Humpal, Brett Humpal, & Chelsea Humpal; Nicole Busta, Ryan Busta, Emily Busta, & Carson Busta; Blake Busta, Evan Busta, Breanna Busta, & Logan Busta. Seven great grandchildren: Easton & Gavin Luzum; Isaac Busta; Hallie & Aaron Busta; Kristin Fisher; Cole Fisher and Baby O’Shea due in December. One sister: Clara Kuhn, Fort Atkinson, IA. Sisters and brothers-in-law: Sophia Busta, Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, Canada; Anatasia Kriener, Fort Atkinson, IA; Pauline Kriener, Fort Atkinson, IA; Linus Kriener, Fort Atkinson, IA; Eleanor Mracek, Protivin, IA; Herman (Greta) Kriener, Spillville, IA; Leo (Rosemary) Kriener, Fort Atkinson, IA; Conrad (Kathleen) Kriener, Fort Atkinson, IA; Peter (Diane) Kriener, Fort Atkinson, IA; and Jerome (Madonna) Kriener.

Godlove was preceded in death by his parents: Charles and Rosa (Kovar) Busta. Father & Mother-in-law: Peter and Mary (Kuennen) Kriener. Four brothers: Charles Busta; and Edward, Joseph & Roman Busta in infancy. Two sisters: Emma (George) Schmitt and Tillie (Frank) Woldan. Brothers-in-law: George Schmitt, Frank Woldan, Paul Kuhn, Lawrence Kriener in infancy, Cyril Kriener, Ignatius Kriener, Francis Kriener and Rueben Mracek. Two nephews: Dorian Schmitt and Allan Kriener. Two nieces: Ladene Cotant and Annette Kriener.
