Victor Bina age, 92 of Spillville died Tuesday May 15, 2007 at the Evans Memorial Home in Cresco, IA. After a sudden illness.

Mass of Christian Burial will be on Saturday May 19, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at the St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Spillville by Rev. Donald Haws burial will be in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be on Friday May 18, 2007 at the Balik Funeral Home in Spillville from 4:00 – 8:00 with a rosary at 5:00 and a scripture service at 7:00 there will also be visitation after 10:00 at the church on Saturday.

Victor George Bina was born on the son of Mathias and Frances (Benda) Bina, near Spillville, Iowa, on April 24, 1915. Victor attended rural school in Calmar Township. Later, Victor enrolled at St. Wenceslaus Catholic School and Spillville High School. When World War II began, Victor left for service with the United States Army. After receiving his basic training in Louisiana, he served with the 34th Division in the European Theater. A couple of years later, during on of the invasions, Victor was captured in Africa and held Prisoner-of-War in Germany for over two years. Victor returned to the United States in May 1945. The same year he began working as a mechanic at Balik Implement Store, in Spillville, until his retirement in 1980. He married Lillian Josephine Triska on August 27, 1947 at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church by Rev. John Chihak. To this union, three sons were born: Andrew, Michael, and Martin. Victor was a member of St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church, and the Clarence Bily American Legion Post #467.

Victor is survived by his two sons: Michael (Diane) Bina, Bloomington, MN and Martin Bina, Decorah, IA. One daughter-in-law: Jean Bina, Spillville, IA. Three grandchildren: Chris (Joan) Bina, Cresco, IA; Chad Bina, Forest City, IA and Kayla Bina, Des Moines, IA. One great grandchild: Alaina Bina. One sister: Helen Lukes, Protivin, IA and one sister-in-law: Virginia Bina, Hiawatha, IA.

Victor was preceded in death by his parents; his wife: Lillian Bina in 2003; his son: Andrew Bina in 2002; one brother: Ernest Bina and one sister: Alice Maloney.
