Cheryl Andersen, (Mrs. Ed) age 76, of Pocola, Oklahoma, died on Saturday, March 27, 2010, at St. Edwards Hospital in Fort Smith, Arkansas.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, April 1, 2010, at the Schluter - Balik Funeral Home in Decorah, Iowa, with Rev. Marion Pruitt- Jefferson presiding. Burial will be in the Lutheran Cemetery, Decorah, Iowa.
Friends may call from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Wednesday and until time of services on Thursday morning at the Schluter - Balik Funeral Home. There also will be an Eastern Star Service at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday evening.
Cheryl Mae (Digre) Andersen was born on September 24, 1933, the daughter of Arnold and Thelma (Ness) Digre in Waterloo, Iowa. Cheryl graduated from Decorah High School in 1951, and she attended one semester of nursing school in Rochester, MN. Cheryl married Edward Andersen on September 21, 1953, in New Brunswick, New Jersey. They moved to Texas and returned to Decorah in 1956, where Cheryl was a homemaker. Cheryl then worked at Wheatman Cleaners and at Taco Bill. Over the years, Cheryl was a fabulous baker and cook; making a wonderful carrot cake. She enjoyed sewing, reading and gambling. Cheryl was a member of the Eastern Star, where she was served as Worthy Matron. In 1988, Cheryl and Ed retired and moved to Pocola, Oklahoma.
Cheryl is survived by her husband: Edward Andersen, Pocola, OK. One daughter: Cheryl (Jim) Satterfield, Raymore, MO. Two sons: Steve (Lori) Andersen, Muscatine, IA, and Brian Andersen, Pocola, OK. Three grandchildren: Erin Satterfield, St. Louis, MO; Sharon (Albert) Valadez, LaPuente, CA; and Steven (Diosa) Andersen, II, San Diego, CA. Two great grandchildren: John and Nik Valadez. One nephew: Mike (Leah) Digre and their son, Cody. One niece: Kim Digre. One sister-in-law: Louise Schneberger, Waterloo, IA.
Cheryl was preceded in death by her parents: Arnold and Thelma (Ness) Digre. One brother: Dave Digre.
