Amy B. Odden Olson, age 91 of Milwaukee, WI and formerly of Decorah, died on Wednesday, March 2, 2005 at Luther Manor Health Care Center in Milwaukee following a long illness.
Funeral Service is at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 5, 2005 at Fjelstul Funeral Home in Decorah, by Rev. Marion Pruitt Miller, with interment in Glenwood Lutheran Cemetery in rural Decorah.
Visitation is on Saturday beginning at 10:00 a.m. at Fjelstul Funeral Home.
Amy Beatrice (Running) Odden Olson was born June 30, 1913 in Springfield Township, Winneshiek County, Iowa, the daughter of Henry and Mina (Iverson) Running. She was baptized and confirmed at Washington Prairie Lutheran Church by Rev. Paul Koren. She attended Red Oak Country School and graduated from Decorah High School.
She was united in marriage with Arthur G. Odden on September 29, 1940 at Washington Prairie Lutheran Church in rural Decorah. Arthur died on September 22, 1963. She was then united in marriage with George T. Olson on September 8, 1979 in Rancho Palos Verdes, CA. He died on February 12, 1995.
Amy was a secretary for Winneshiek Soil Conservation, Luther Seminary in St. Paul, MN, and several hospitals. She was a member of First Lutheran Church in Decorah and participated in Ladies’ Aide and Church Circle. After living in Decorah for many years, she relocated to Forest City, Iowa, St. Paul, Minnesota, and then Carson, California. After the death of George Olson, she moved to Luther Manor Independent Living in Milwaukee, WI, until September 1, 2001 when she was admitted into the Health Care Center there.
She died Wednesday, March 2, 2005 at Luther Manor Health Care Center in Milwaukee at the age of 91 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Arthur Odden; her second husband, George Olson; one brother, Hartvig Running; and one sister, Myrtle Sobolik.
Survivors include one stepson, Francis (Miriam Strum) Odden of Fox Point, WI; one grandson, Scott (Carrie) Odden of Oregon, WI; one granddaughter, Kari (Bob Carey) Odden of Mt. Vernon, WA; four step great-grandchildren, Kjetil, Grant, Liesel, and Leif; and many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Luther Manor Residence, 4545 North 92nd Street, Milwaukee, Wisconsin 53225 or Glenwood Lutheran Cemetery Fund.
