Gilman J. Lundtvedt, age 81 years of Decorah, Iowa, died Sunday, July 31, 2005 at Green Lea Manor Nursing Home in Mabel, MN. following a short illness.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, August 3, 2005 at Decorah Lutheran Church by Rev. James Glesne, with burial in Lutheran Cemetery, Decorah.

Friends may call from 5:00-7:00 P.M. Tuesday, August 2, 2005 at Fjelstul Funeral Home in Decorah, where there will be a 7:00 P.M. Prayer Service. Friends may also call from 10:00-11:00 A.M. Wednesday at the church.

Gilman Julian Lundtvedt was born on August 19, 1923 in Glenwood Township, Winneshiek County, Iowa, the son of Gunder and Olga (Skaim) Lundtvedt.

Gilman was united in marriage to Gladys Eleanor Tweeten on September 26, 1945 in rural Spring Grove, Minnesota, at the home of her sister, Leila and Grant Ingvalson by the Rev. Hovenrose. To this union, two sons were born, Roger and Donald.

Gilman and Gladys farmed from 1945-1968 in Glenwood Township. The couple then moved to Decorah and he worked for the Decorah Street Department for many years, retiring in 1985. Following retirement, Gilman worked for several summers at Country View Golf Course near Decorah. He was responsible for planting many of the trees on the course and took pride in tending to them until they were established. Gladys preceded him in death on December 19, 2000.

Gilman was a member of Decorah Lutheran Church and the IOOF Lodge in Decorah. He loved spending time with his grandchildren, enjoyed collecting all kinds of clocks and flower gardening. Gilman was fond of a good card game or going dancing.

Gilman became a resident of Green Lea Manor Nursing Home in Mabel, Minnesota on September 25, 2001.

Survivors included his two sons, Roger Lundtvedt of Ridgeway, IA; Donald (DiAnn) Lundtvedt of Burr Oak, IA; six grandchildren, Steve Lundtvedt, Dawn (Daniel) Decker, Daniel (Tiffany) Lundtvedt, Nancy (Lane) Lundtvedt Swalve, Dwayne (Lisa) Lundtvedt, Adam Lundtvedt; thirteen great grandchildren; two sisters, Marlys Schulte of Decorah and Arla Mae (Lester) Hjelmeland of Winona, MN; two brothers, Ernest (Lillian) Lundtvedt of Decorah and Arnold (Margaret) Lundtvedt of Caledonia, MN.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Agnes Koester and two brothers, Kenneth and Oscar Lundtvedt.
