Ronald H. Lovstuen, age 64, of Decorah, Iowa, died Tuesday, March 22, 2005 at his home.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, March 26, 2005 at First Lutheran Church in Decorah by Rev. Steven M. Jacobsen, with burial in Lutheran Cemetery in Decorah.
Friends may call from 4:00-7:00 P.M. Friday, March 25, 2005 at Fjelstul Funeral Home in Decorah and an hour prior to the services on Saturday at the church.
Ronald Herbert Lovstuen was born August 6, 1940 in Waukon, Iowa, the son of Norton and Luella (Peterson) Lovstuen. He graduated from Decorah High School with the Class of 1958. From 1962-1964, he was stationed with the US Army in North Carolina.
He was united in marriage to Irene Berg on October 21, 1967 at Washington Prairie Lutheran Church in rural Decorah. To this union, one son was born: Randy.
Ron had been employed by Holland Brothers Construction Company, Berge, Inc., and Decorah Skelgas. He retired in August 2002 after 25 years of service with Olson Explosives Co. of Decorah. Following his retirement, Ron worked part time for Decorah Auto Center and Decorah Chevrolet.
Ron was a member of First Lutheran Church in Decorah and Oneota Golf and Country Club. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, playing cards and spending time with family and friends.
Ron passed away at his home on Tuesday, March 22, 2005 after a courageous battle with cancer, at the age of 64 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Norton and Luella Lovstuen; his niece, Jill Marie Lovstuen; and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Bennie and Lillie Berg.
Survivors include his wife, Irene of Decorah; his son Randy (Sanela) Lovstuen of Henderson, Nevada; his five month old grandson, Anders Ronald Lovstuen; three sisters, Imogene Olson of Eau Claire, WI, Elaine (Peter) Ask of Chatfield, MN, and Linda Coonradt of Cedar Falls, IA; two brothers, Norris (Clarice) Lovstuen of Minneapolis, MN, and Kenny (Barb) Lovstuen of Albia, IA and several nieces and nephews.
