Evelyn was born March 15, 1921 in Highland Township, Winneshiek County, Iowa to James and Louise (Morken) Strinmoen. She attended the Highlandville School and then the Decorah High School. On August 8, 1941 she was united in marriage to Forrest W. Kroshus at the Big Canoe Lutheran Church. They lived in Highlandville where Forrest operated Kroshus Construction. Forrest passed away November 26, 2006. She had worked for her brothers in the grocery store, at the Highland General Store, and at Luther College. Evelyn was a lifelong member of the Big Canoe Lutheran Church. She enjoyed listening and dancing to old time music.
Evelyn passed away Friday, April 23, 2010 at the Aase Haugen Home in Decorah, Iowa at the age of 89.

Evelyn is survived by two sons Gerald (Vernoe) of Decorah, and Bruce (Margo) of Oronoco; a daughter Vickie Kroshus of Richfield, Minnesota; five grandchildren Jay and Adam, and Katie, Annie, and Adam; three great grandchildren Gabrielle, Drake, and Abby; her best friend Ella Anderson; and sister-in-laws Bea Strinmoen, Charlotte Strinmoen, Katherine Kroshus, and Ethel Kroshus. She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; a great grandson Miles; a sister Mildred; and three brothers Norman, Lloyd, and Kenneth.

Funeral servicesa will be 11 AM Thursday, April 29, 2010 at the Big Canoe Luthern Church in rural Decorah with the Rev. David Andreae officiating. Visitation will be 4 – 7 PM Wednesday, April 28th at the Mengis Funeral Home in Mabel and one hour prior to services at the church.
