Arnold M. Hogenson, age 89, of Decorah, Iowa, died Monday, December 27, 2004 at Aase Haugen Home in Decorah following a brief illness.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, December 29, 2004 at Springfield Lutheran Church in rural Decorah, IA, by Rev. Norman L. Bauer, with burial in the Springfield Lutheran Cemetery.

Visitation is on Tuesday, December 28, 2004 from 4:00-8:00 P.M. at Fjelstul Funeral Home in Decorah and from 10:00-11:00 A.M. Wednesday at the church.

Arnold M. Hogenson was born April 14, 1915 on his home farm in Springfield Township, Winneshiek County, IA, the son of Anton and Anna (Halverson) Hogenson. He was baptized and later confirmed in Norwegian at Springfield Lutheran Church.

He was united in marriage to Arlene M. Anderson on March 2, 1943 at the Decorah Lutheran Parsonage in Decorah, IA. To this union four children were born: Sheryl, Joyce, Dale and Larry.

Arnold was proud that he was born, raised, lived and farmed on the same land in Springfield Township his entire life. He farmed for many years in partnership with his brother Elmer.

Arnold was a lifelong, active member of Springfield Lutheran Church and was the oldest male member of the congregation. He loved the outdoors, and especially enjoyed hunting, fishing, trapping and bird watching. Arnold enjoyed baseball and dart ball in his younger days. He and Arlene enjoyed playing cards and traveling. He treasured most of all his grandchildren and family.

Arnold died Monday, December 27, 2004 at Aase Haugen Home in Decorah, at the age of 89.

He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant son, Larry; three brothers Clarence, Thomas and Elmer; and a sister, Margaret Wold.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Arlene; his 3 children: Sheryl (Robert) Linderbaum of New Hampton, IA, Joyce (Lloyd) Radloff of Ontario, WI, and Dale (Julie) Hogenson of Decorah, IA; six grandsons, Luther and Lonny Linderbaum, Aaron Bennesh, Justin Radloff, A.J. Hogenson, Samuel Hogenson; one granddaughter, Johanna Hogenson; 2 step-grandchildren, Christopher and Eric Radloff; 3 great-grandchildren, Skylar, Mia, McKenzie Bennesh; one sister, Gladys Lien of Decorah, IA; and one brother, Edward Hogenson of Decorah, IA.
