Robyn Kolaas Hageman Schmitt, age 48, of Fort Atkinson, Iowa, died on Wednesday, December 17, 2008, at the Covenant Medical Center in Waterloo, Iowa, following a long illness.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Monday, December 22, 2008, at the Springfield Lutheran Church, Decorah, IA, with Rev. Norman Bauer officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Friends may call from 3:00-7:00 p.m. on Sunday at the Schluter – Balik Funeral Home, Chekal Chapel in Fort Atkinson, Iowa, and after 10:00 a.m. at the church on Monday morning.

Robyn LuAnn Kolaas Hageman Schmitt was born on April 15, 1960, in Decorah, Iowa, the daughter of Kenneth B. and Christine M. (Johnson) Kolaas. Robyn attended Postville High School until 1978. She married Neil Hageman on June 5, 1981, and to this union, two children were born: Kaiya and Kara. They later divorced. Robyn worked at various places in Northeast Iowa. She married Daryl Schmitt on October 13, 2007. Robyn loved being with her family and friends, to cook, the Iowa Hawkeyes, the Green Bay Packers, and Harley Davidson motorcycles.

Robyn’s survivors include her husband: Daryl Schmitt, Fort Atkinson, IA. Two daughters: Kaiya (Peter J.) Kriener, Ft. Atkinson, IA, and Kara Hageman, Calmar, IA. Her mother: Chris Kolaas, Calmar, IA. One sister: Sherry (Leon) Bachelder, Decorah, IA. Three brothers: Kim Kolaas, Calmar, IA; Steven (Carolin) Kolaas, Waverly, IA and Scott Kolaas & Melissa McLaughlin, Calmar, IA. Nine nieces and nephews: Kelly & Korey Bachelder; Kristopher Kolaas; Dustin and Kayci Kolaas; Zachary and Tyler Kolaas; Kiri McLaughlin and Kodie Smith. Four sisters-in-law: Linda Schmitt, Calmar, IA; Judy (Roger) Ott, Fort Atkinson, IA; Sue (Al) Blong, Fort Atkinson, IA; Gladys (Marv) Huinker, Calmar, IA. One brother-in-law: Dale (Norine) Schmitt, Peosta, IA, along with numerous other Aunts, Uncles, Cousins and many friends.

Robyn was preceded in death by her father: Kenneth Kolaas on February 26, 2005. One sister: Linda in 1955. One nephew: Kamon Chapman in 1993. One sister-in-law: Theresa Kolaas in 2001. One brother-in-law: Gary Schmitt in 2004.
