Elaine Rommes, age 72, of Spillville, IA died Sunday, May 22, 2011 at the Aase Haugen Home in Decorah, IA after a long illness.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday May 26, 2011 at the St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Spillville, IA Rev Donald Hawes will be presiding, burial will be in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be from 3:00 – 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 25, 2011 at the Balik Funeral Home in Spillville With a rosary at 4:00 and a scripture service at 5:00 p.m. there will also be visitation after 10:00 at the church on Thursday.

Elaine Ann (Fisher) Rommes was born April 6, 1939 to Arthur and Mary (Vachta) Fisher She attended St. Wenceslaus School and Calmar High School. Elaine married Myles Rommes on March 7, 1970 at St. Wenceslaus Catholic church in Spillville, IA. Elaine worked at Deco Products in Decorah for a short time she also did In-Home Daycare from 1972 through 2006 for many area children. Elaine enjoyed playing Bingo and truly loved her grandchildren.

Survivors include her husband: Myles Spillville, IA Son: Jeff (Cortney Kerner) Calmar, IA Two grandchildren: Jordan and Kaylie, Brother: Jimmy (Joan) Fisher, Spillville, IA Sisters: Mildred (Joseph) Pecinovsky, Cresco, IA Delores (Ralph) Pecinovsky, Protivin, IA Dorothy Vrba, Protivin, IA Peggy (Gene) Reicks, Spillville, IA. Brothers and sisters-in-law: Kenneth (Janice) Rommes, Caledonia, MN. Gary (Kathy) Rommes, Onalaska, WI. Allan (Melody) Rommes, LaCrosse WI. Muriel (David) Sanders, Hesper, IA Geraldine (Sam) Shaffer, Janesville, WI.

Elaine was preceded in Death by her parents: Arthur and Mary and a brother-in-law: Alton Vrba.
