Cletus Herold, age 82, of Fort Atkinson, Iowa, died on Thursday, October 18, 2007, at his home from congestive heart failure.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, October 20, 2007, at St. Johnís Catholic Church in Fort Atkinson, Iowa, with Rev. David Beckman officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Friends may call from 3:00 Ė 7:00 p.m. Friday and on Saturday morning until 10:00 a.m. at the Schluter Ė Balik Funeral Home, Chekal Chapel in Fort Atkinson, Iowa. There will be a scripture service at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.

Cletus Paul Herold was born on July 20, 1925, the son of Martin and Mayme (Baker) Herold on the home farm near Fort Atkinson, Iowa. Cletus graduated from Fort Atkinson High School in 1942 and farmed on the family farm. He married Anita Stammeyer on July 19, 1958, at St. Lukeís Catholic Church in St. Lucas, Iowa. Together they farmed until he retired in 1990. Cletus enjoyed hunting, fishing, trapshooting, his bird dogs and being in the outdoors. He enjoyed scuba diving and the water. Cletus was a member of St. Johnís Catholic Church in Fort Atkinson, Iowa and the Knights of Columbus in St. Lucas.

Cletusí survivors include his wife, Anita Herold, Fort Atkinson, IA. One daughter: Jennifer (Pete) Schaack, Austin, TX. Three sons: Tim (friend, Paula) Herold, Cedar Rapids, IA; Tom (Becky) Herold, Van Meter, IA and Matt (Lori) Herold, Fort Atkinson, IA. Seven grandchildren: Nathan & Brooke Herold, Grace Schaack, Amy (Bob) Carlson, Zac Herold, Heath & Noah Herold. Three sisters: Valeria Herold, Anastasia Kriener and Rosemary (Leo) Kriener, all of Fort Atkinson, IA. One brother: Ambrose Herold, Dallas, TX and many nieces and nephews.

Cletus was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Theodore in infancy; one brother-in-law: Cyril Kriener and one sister-in-law: Evelyn Herold.
