Nora E. Hageman, 90, of Canton, Minn., died Wednesday, March 30, 2011 at Harmony Healthcare in Harmony, Minn. Funeral Mass was 11 a.m. Saturday, April 2, at the Assumption Catholic Church in Canton, Minn., with Father Donald P. Schmitz officiating. Burial was in the Calvary Cemetery in Canton. Visitation was 4 – 7 p.m. Friday, April 1, at the Mengis Funeral Home in Mabel and one hour prior to services at the church. There was a prayer service at 5 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. www.mengisfuneralhome.com .

Nora was born March 19, 1921 in Winneshiek County to Archie and Candace ”Babe” (Dinger) Ward. She attended country schools in the Bluffton and Burr Oak area. On Feb. 12, 1946 she married Parnell Hageman at the St. Benedict’s Catholic Church in Decorah. They farmed north of Decorah until 1959 and then south of Canton until 1985 when they retired and moved into Canton. Parnell passed away March 4, 2005.

She was a member of the Assumption Catholic Church in Canton. She enjoyed helping the Altar Society with church events, baking, flowers, and gardening.

Nora is survived by a son Ronald (Karen) of Burr Oak; a daughter Marsha (Gary) Osting of Ames; four step-grandchildren: Sue (John) Ryan, Pat Hoppe, Kathy (Ryan) Boon, and Elizabeth (Ben) Matthies; seven step-great grandchildren: Trisha (Joel) Wenthold, Travis (Abby) Ryan, Caitlyn and Blake Hoppe, Gracie and Jacob Boon, Emmalynn Matthies; and two step-great-great- grandchildren, Tylar and Hayden; two sisters-in-law, Ruth Huber and Anita (Carroll) Lansing both of Decorah; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband Parnell; her parents; a sister Iren Keck, two step-grandchildren David and Jeff Hoppe; and two brothers-in-law James Keck and Conrad Huber.
