Roger was born August 7, 1917 in Canoe Township, Winneshiek County, Iowa to Peter Andrew and Nora (Korsen) Danielson. He was baptized and confirmed at the Hauge Lutheran Church in rural Decorah, Iowa. He was educated in the rural Canoe Township Schools. On October 30, 1937 he married Clarissa Severson in Decorah. She later passed away on August 9, 1990. He farmed in the Mabel area most of his life and enjoyed selling Pioneer Seed to friends and neighbors.

On September 23, 1995 he married Mildred Horgen Paulson at her home near Hesper. They lived on the farm until moving to Burr Oak in 1997. He was a member of the Burr Oak Lutheran Church and NFO. Roger enjoyed farming, ponies and horses, and riding his John Deere mower.

Roger passed away Monday, April 28, 2008 at his home at the age of 90.

Roger is survived by his wife Mildred of Burr Oak; daughter-in-law Kaye Danielson of Onalaska, Wisconsin; two grandchildren Peter (Sara) Danielson of Henderson, Nevada and Julie (Scott) Brinen of Madison, Wisconsin; a great grandson Alex Brinen; five step children Russel (Pat) Paulson of Winona, Minn., Cindy (Gary) Schnitzler of Burr Oak, Cherry (Tim) Critton of Bowling Green, Ohio, Eric (Deb) Paulson of Decorah, and Mike Paulson of Hesper, Iowa; ten step-grandchildren; seven step-great grandchildren; a brother Gordon (Colleen) of Decorah; two sisters Geraldine Cook of Webster City, Iowa, and Harriet Toras of Chicago, Ill.; two sister-in-laws Evelyn Danielson of Swea City, Iowa and Pastor Harriet Danielson of Ridgeway, Iowa; and a brother-in-law Norlen Lee of Minneapolis, Minnesota. He was preceded in death by his first wife Clarissa; a son Gregory; two brothers Roland and Norine; and four sisters Loretta Henning, Palma Buck, Edyth Greibel, and Olive Lee.

Funeral services will be 11 AM Thursday, May, 1, 2008 at the Burr Oak Lutheran Church with the Reverend Matt Larson officiating. Burial will be in the Burr Oak Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 – 7 PM Wednesday, April 30 at the Mengis Funeral Home in Mabel and one hour prior to services at the church.
