Larry was born June 6, 1953 in Cresco, Iowa to Gerald and Evelyn (Creger) Wilson. He was baptized at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Cresco and confirmed at the Burr Oak Lutheran Church. He graduated from the North Winneshiek High School in 1971. Larry served in the United States Navy from February, 1972 until May, 1975, then in the Navy Reserves until January,1979. He served on the USS Cook in the Pacific Ocean during the Vietnam War. On May 15, 1976 he married Myrna Hovey at the Burr Oak Lutheran Church. They lived and operated various dairy farms in the Burr Oak and Hesper area. He was currently a partner in the farming operation with their son Chet. Larry kept his sense of humor and positive attitude throughout his long fight with cancer and the family thanks the doctors, nurses, and hospice from the Gunderson Medical Centers in LaCrosse and Decorah. He was a member of the Burr Oak Lutheran Church, the Mabel American Legion, and the Mabel Veterans of Foreign Wars. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, his dog Odie, and collecting
International toy tractors.

Larry passed away Tuesday, July 22, 2008 at the Gunderson / Lutheran Hospital in LaCrosse, Wisconsin at the age of 55.

Larry is survived by his wife Myrna of Decorah; five children Chad (fiancé Jessie Jeziorski), Chet, and Cory all of Decorah, Carla (Bill) Richardson of Mabel, and Caryn (special friend Gene Halverson) of Decorah; two grandchildren Austin and Hannah Wilson; two brothers Michael (Connie) of Cresco, Iowa and Randy (Pam) of St. Cloud, Minnesota; two sisters Diane (Steve) Eiken of Prosper, Minnesota and Connie (Dennis) Ihns of Decorah; father-in-law Harlan Hovey of Decorah; and sisters and brother-in-laws and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents; and mother-in-law Norma Hovey.

Memorial services will be 2 PM Saturday, July 26, 2008 at the Church in Burr Oak, Iowa with the Rev. Matt Larson officiating.

Military Honors will be by the Mabel American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars. Visitation will be 3 – 8 PM Friday, July 25 at the Burr Oak Lutheran Church and one hour prior to services at the church. Memorials are preferred.
