Patrick Drew, age 57, of Decorah, Iowa, died on Tuesday, June 6, 2006, at his home from pancreatic cancer.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, June 9, 2006 at St. Benedict’s Catholic Church with Rev. Gary Krapfl and Rev. Joan Mau officiating. Burial will be in St. Benedict’s Catholic Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Winneshiek County Hospice, 901 Montgomery Street, Decorah, IA 52101.

Friends may call from 3:00-8:00 p.m. on Thursday and until 10:30 a.m. Friday morning at the Schluter – Balik Funeral Home in Decorah.

Patrick Philip Drew was born on May 16, 1949, the son of Daniel and Betty Mae (Timp) Drew in Decorah, Iowa. Pat attended St. Benedict’s Catholic School; graduated from St. Francis – DeSales Catholic High School in Ossian, Iowa in 1967, and graduated from Iowa State University in 1971. Pat worked from 1972 – 77 for the USDA in Federal Crop Insurance, traveling seven states in the Midwest. He worked from 1977-79 at the Iowa State ASCS office in Des Moines and from 1979-86 at the Winneshiek County ASCS office as the Executive Director. In 1986, he went to work for Decorah State Bank, in the Protivin branch until 2002. On January 1, 2003, Pat went to work for the Security State Bank in Calmar. He married Sharon Wangsness Kidd on September 17, 1994 at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, in Decorah, Iowa. Pat also served in the US Army Reserves. Pat enjoyed playing poker with two different groups of men for 27 years, and the “Redistribution of Wealth”. He also enjoyed photography, collecting pens, and traveling. One of his greatest joys was being on the farm and working with the draft horses with his family.

Pat is survived by his wife, Sharon Drew, Decorah, IA; his dog, Lizz; two step-children: Ben Kidd, Salida, CO and Jennifer Kidd, Rochester, MN; His parents: Daniel and Betty Mae Drew, Decorah, IA; Three sisters: Sheila Drew, Overland Park, KS; Mary (Dan) Taiber, Cedar Rapids, IA and Lisa Drew, Cedar Rapids, IA. Three brothers: John (Teri) Drew, Oskaloosa, IA; Kevin Drew, Decorah, IA and Peter (Lisa) Drew, St. Joseph, MN. Three nieces: Anne Wangsness, Jenna Taiber & Alicia Lizarazo. Seven nephews: Erik & Jon Wangsness; Justin, Andrew & Ben Taiber; Nick & Sam Drew. One brother-in-law: Clayton & Harriet Wangsness, Decorah, IA and one sister-in-law: Rev. Barbara Wangsness and husband, Rev. Natanael Lizarazo, Renner, SD. Aunts and Uncles: Ray (Kay) Drew, Hampton, IA; Irene Drew, Decorah, IA; Rosemary Gerleman, Decorah, IA; Gerald (Pat) Timp, Calmar, IA and Sister Selma Timp, OSF, Dyersville, IA and many cousins.

Pat was preceded in death by his grandparents: Raymond & Theresa Drew and Philip & Alexia Timp. One Uncle: Robert Drew. His father-in-law and mother-in-law: Elvin & Nina Wangsness. One nephew: Jesus Lizarazo.
