Francis (Frank) Bouska, age 87 of Protivin died Monday June 6, 2005 at the Ossian Senior Hospice in Ossian Iowa.

Mass of Christian Burial will be on Friday June 10, 2005 at 10:30 at the Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Protivin by Rev. Robert Ament with Burial in the church cemetery

Visitation will be on Thursday June 9 from 3:00 until 8:00 at the Balik Funeral Home in Spillville with a rosary at 6:00 and a prayer service at 5:00 there will also be visitation at the church on Friday after 9:30 a.m.

Francis Charles Bouska was born July 8, 1917 to George and Ida (Jirak) Bouska on the family farm near Protivin, IA. Francis graduated from Rudolphinum High School in Protivin in 1935. Francis married Pauline Frana on June 2, 1941 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Protivin. Together they farmed near Protivin for many years and he also did custom field work. Francis was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, Catholic Workmen, Farm Bureau and the Protivin Creamery. Francis enjoyed reading the daily paper while drinking coffee, dancing, music and card playing. His other hobbies included hunting, fishing and making wood. He was a lifetime traveler and traveled quite extensively. This included flying his own planes and riding an assortment of motorcycles.

Francis’ survivors include his five sons: Francis Jr., of Freeport, IA; George and wife Kathleen of New Hampton, IA; Quentin of Minneapolis, MN; Joseph and wife LaVonne of Ft. Atkinson, IA; and Jerry of Ft. Atkinson, IA. Four daughters: Kathleen Meyer and husband Charles of Waterloo, IA; Anita Hemesath and husband Richard of Ossian, IA; Pauline Haskovec and husband Kenneth of Cresco, IA; LaDeane Lensing and husband Marvin of Cresco, IA. Thirty-two grandchildren and thirty great grandchildren. Two sisters Evelyn Balk of Lawler, IA and Edna Praska of Cresco, IA. One sister-in-law: Hattie Frana, Spillville, IA.

Francis was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Pauline; two sons: John and James and his wife, Deborah; four grandchildren: Alan and Joel Meyer and Caroline and Michael Bouska in infancy.
