Lillian N. Bolson, age 89, of Decorah, Iowa died on Sunday, October 30, 2005 at the Oneota River Riverview Care Facility in Decorah, Iowa following a long illness.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 2, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. at the Decorah Lutheran Church with Rev. James Glesne, Rev. Bryan Robertson and Rev. Allen Vik officiating. Burial will be in the Lutheran Cemetery, Decorah, Iowa.
Friends may call on Tuesday, November 1, 2005 from 3:00-6:00 p.m. at the Schluter – Balik Funeral Home and after 10:00 a.m. at the church on Wednesday morning.
Lillian Nicoline Bolson was born the daughter of Theodore and Ingeborg (Brynsaas) Bolson on the family farm in Glenwood Township east of Decorah, Iowa. She was baptized and confirmed at the Glenwood Lutheran Church. Lillian attended rural School at the Baker country school. She worked and lived on the farm with her sisters and brothers. She moved with her brother, Thomas and two sisters Theresa and Julia to Decorah. She worked at the Decorah Laundry and Cleaners and then for the Winneshiek County Memorial Hospital in the Laundry Department. She retired and her hobbies included keeping track of her family and friends. Lillian also did very fine embroidery, making tablecloths. She enjoyed playing cards. Lillian was a member of the Decorah Lutheran Church, Ladies Circle and the ELCA.
Lillian’s survivors include her nieces: Linda (Bob) Wedmann, Decorah, IA; Alice Broderick, Decorah, IA; Grace Erickson, Decorah, IA; Bernell (Dean) Decker, Waukon, IA; Irene Jewell, Orinda, CA; Grace Torresdal, Decorah, IA and Betty Hill, Waukon, IA.
Lillian was preceded in death by her parents, five sisters: Alma Torresdal, Ida Theresa Bolson, Karen “Carrie” Hill, Julia Amanda Bolson and Theresa Idella Bolson; three brothers: Thomas Bolson, Thomas Joseph Bolson and Arthur Hilman Bolson. Three nephews: Tilman Hill, Howard Hill and Lester Torresdal.
