Audrey E. Anderson, age 87, of Decorah, IA, died Saturday, April 16, 2011 at Barthell O.E.S. Home in Decorah.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, April 21, 2011 at Jerico Lutheran Church in Jerico, IA, with Rev. Daniel Larson officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M. Wednesday, April 20, at Fjelstul Funeral Home in Decorah and on Thursday one hour before the service at the church.

Audrey Ellen (Huseby) Anderson was born November 4, 1923 at her parents’ home in Decorah, Iowa, the daughter of Alvin and Noretta (Olson) Huseby. She was baptized and confirmed at Canoe Creek Lutheran Church by Rev. Bredeson. She attended country school through the 8th grade, and was a 1941 graduate of Decorah High School. She had training for teaching while in high school. She then went on to continue her education for teaching at John Hopkins in Baltimore, MD and Luther College in Decorah. Audrey taught in country schools prior to her marriage.

Audrey was united in marriage to Palmer O. Anderson on June 6, 1948 at First Lutheran Church in Decorah, Iowa. In 1960 they became parents to Timothy David and in 1963 to Tami Sue.

Audrey and Palmer, along with his sister and her husband, Edith and Walter Grosser, owned and operated the Barb Restaurant for nine years. Palmer and Walter then operated A&G Distributing Co. in Decorah for 30 years.

Audrey enjoyed vegetable and flower gardening, canning, watching birds, fishing, golfing, playing cards, and traveling.

Audrey is survived by her son, Tim Anderson of Decorah, IA; her daughter, Tami Anderson of Decorah, IA, and by her niece, Lisa (Ed) Jelle of Minneapolis, MN.

She was preceded in death by her parents: Alvin and Noretta Huseby; her husband, Palmer on July 1, 2006; a daughter-in-law, Sandra Anderson in 1999; and her sister, Frances Moerer.
