Margaret (Maggie) K. Perkins, age, 67, passed away Thursday, Jan. 13, 2011, in Chicago, Ill.

Maggie was born in Decorah June 27, 1943, to Charles and Mildred (Gossman) Jennisch. She graduated from Decorah High School, was Miss Decorah and a runner-up in the Miss Iowa Pageant. After completing her education at Drake University in Des Moines, Maggie went on to an outstanding career in advertising, including serving as Executive Creative Director (on P & G) at Saatchi & Saatchi. She wrote and produced television commercials for large advertising agencies in Chicago, Los Angeles, and New York.

In 1992, she left New York to work in Paris (her home for 12 years), Moscow and Warsaw. Maggie retired from advertising and returned to the United States. She was living in Chicago at the time of her death.

Survivors include her fiancé, David Saloon; one brother, Bernard; nieces Keri (Ryan) Moore, Maggie Jennisch, Dr. Margaret (Dr. Al) Vitiritto-Khan, DO, Elizabeth Vitiritto, Bernadette (AJ White) Vitiritto, Jennifer Vitiritto, and Catherine (Christian Anderson) Vitiritto; stepdaughters Elizabeth Perkins, Susan Perkins, and Karen Perkins; several aunts, uncles, and cousins; and many lifelong friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her grandparents, and one sister, Cheryl Vitiritto.

At Maggie’s request her body was cremated. A private service will be held in Decorah at a later date. Donations may be made in Maggie’s name to the Winneshiek (WMC) Hospice or to Decorah’s Nordic Fest.
