Ruth “Boots” Lensch, age 85, of Decorah, IA, died on Friday, February 11, 2011, at the Barthell Eastern Star Home in Decorah, IA.

A memorial service will be held later this Spring.

Ruth Ann “Boots” Lensch was born on February 16, 1925, the daughter of Harry J. and Alma (Knutson) Lensch, Sr. in Cedar Rapids, IA. Ruth was baptized in Cedar Rapids and confirmed at the Springfield Lutheran Church, rural Decorah. Ruth attended Decorah Community Schools. In 1952, Ruth moved to Cedar Rapids and went to work for Rockwell Collins. She worked there until she retired in 1992 and returned to Decorah to be closer to family. Ruth enjoyed shopping, watching TV, playing canasta, traveling and spoiling her brothers and nieces and nephews.

Ruth’s survivors include her three brothers: Harry (Mary Lou) Lensch, Decorah, IA; David Lensch, Decorah, IA; and John (Muriel) Lensch, Decorah, IA. Twelve nieces and nephews: Steve (Kathryn) Lensch; Tom (Deborah) Lensch; Janet (Gary) Held; Jim (Verla) Lensch; Cathy (Mark) Nelson; Lori (Loren) Luzum; Kevin (friend, Mary Sacquitne) Lensch; Kent Lensch; Christopher (Nellie) Lensch; Leslie (friend, Rayanne) Lensch; Ladell (Lynn) Gossen and Patrick (Barb) Gossen, along with many great nieces, nephews and great great nieces and nephews. A special friend: Dan Bruns, Decorah, IA.

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents: Harry J. and Alma (Knutson) Lensch, Sr. Her step-mother: Sadie Lensch. One brother: Robert (Bette) Lensch and one brother John in infancy. Two sisters-in-law: Roselyn Lensch and Ruth Lensch.
