David P. Christensen, 58, of Decorah, died Friday, Dec. 31, 2010 at Aase Haugen Home in Decorah. Memorial services are 3 p.m. Friday, Jan.7, at Fjelstul Funeral Home in Decorah with Rev. Skip Rushing officiating. Visitation is Friday beginning at 1 p.m. at Fjelstul Funeral Home, two hours before the service. Friends may sign Dave’s guest book or send condolences on-line at www. David Paul Christensen was born Nov. 17, 1952 in Waverly, the son of Earl August and Delores June (Thomas) Christensen. He graduated from Nevada High School in Nevada, with the class of 1971. He then attended the University of Iowa in Iowa City for two years.

David met Patti Lynne Burnham, July 13, 1978 and they were married May 25, 1985 in Des Moines. This union was blessed with two sons: Shane and Heath. David’s oldest son, Eric Christensen, is from a previous marriage.

Dave was self-employed in Des Moines than worked for General Financial Supply in Nevada. He was transferred to Harrisonburg, Va. with GFS in 1989. In 1991 he started with Rocco Turkeys in Harrisonburg; then in 1995 the family moved back to Iowa where Dave ran Iowa Turkey Products in Postville, until the plant burned down in 2003. At that point he worked as a salesman for Waukon Power Sports, including Harley Davidson, Yamaha and Honda Division, and later in their Decorah location, Decorah Viking Honda. Dave really enjoyed fishing and golfing, and he was an avid Iowa State fan. Dave became a resident of the Aase Haugen Home Dec. 23, 2010.

Dave is survived by his wife, Patti Lynne; three sons: Shane Christensen of Cedar Falls, Heath Christensen of Decorah and Eric Christensen of Des Moines; two grandchildren; his sister, Peg (Don) Stover of Urbandale; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Delores, a stepbrother, Don Christensen of Colo; and his father-in-law, William Burnham of Orlando, Fla.
