Adrian P. Bucheit, age 83, of Calmar, Iowa died on Tuesday, February 1, 2005 at the Ossian Senior Hospice in Ossian, Iowa following a lengthy illness.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 5, 2005 at St. Aloysius Catholic Church, in Calmar, Iowa with Rev. Donald Hawes. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Friends may call from 3:00-8:00 p.m. on Friday at the Schluter – Balik Funeral Home, French Chapel in Calmar, Iowa and after 10:00 a.m. at the church on Saturday morning.There will be a rosary at 4:00 p.m. and a 7:00 scripture service at the funeral home on Friday.
Adrian Philip Bucheit was born on August 27, 1921 the son of Alphonse and Olivia (Schneberger) Bucheit in Festina, Iowa. Adrian married LaVon Kaveny on May 28, 1946 at St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Calmar. Adrian worked for Bucheit Produce and ran the Top Hat Tavern for ten years in Calmar. In 1961, he moved to San Jose, California and worked for a house moving company. In 1989, they moved back to Calmar. Adrian was a member of the Halverson – Giesen American Legion Post #266 and St. Aloysius Catholic Church. Adrian enjoyed old western movies, watching TV, was an avid Cubs fan and enjoyed visiting with people.
Adrian’s survivors include his wife: LaVon Bucheit of Calmar, IA. One daughter: Ramona Houdek, & husband Andy, Ft. Atkinson, IA. One son: Philip Bucheit & wife Jennifer, Stockton, CA. One daughter-in-law: Candy Hilgaman Bucheit, Tracy, CA. Four grandchildren: Philip, Eric, Amy and Lily Bucheit and four step-grandchildren: Matthias Houdek; Amanda, Megan and Sarah Fitzsimmons. Two Brothers: Jerry Bucheit of Calmar, IA and Claude Bucheit & wife Gretchen, Decorah, IA. One sister: Joan Schissel & husband Don, Ossian, IA. One Aunt: Evelyn Bucheit, Decorah, IA.
Adrian was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Joyce Bucheit and one brother: Quintin Bucheit.
