Victor E. 51, Canoe township farmer, died Saturday night at his home due to a stroke. He had been ill for five and one-half days.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Aug 23, at 1 p.m. at the Steine Funeral home, and at 2 p.m. at St. John’s Lutheran church in Locust, with the Rev. Carl Losen officiating.
Berge was born January 25, 1898, in Glenwood Township, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Ole Berge, and he spent his entire life in Winneshiek County. He received his education in the rural schools of Winneshiek County.
He was married February 27, 1924, to the former Laura Anna Knoke at Locust.
Surviving in addition to his wife is one daughter, Mrs. Harold Rosenbaum, of Warren, Ill. One son and one daughter died in infancy.
Also surviving are three sisters; Mrs. Ella Grosland, Hayward Mann; Mrs. Olga Williamson, of Appleton, Wis.; and Mrs. Laura Borris, of Austin, Minn.; and six brothers; Julius and Theodore, of Decorah; Anton, of Ridgeway:\; Paul of Austin, Minn.; and Johnnie and Clarence, of Spokane, Wash.One sister and three brothers preceded him in death.
Berge was a member of St. John’s Lutheran church at Locust.
