Albert Kern
April 26, 1894 – March 28, 1974

Albert C. Kern, retired Winneshiek County farmer, died March 28 at the Winneshiek County Memorial Hospital. He was 79.

Funeral services for Mr. Kern were held March 30 at First Lutheran Church with burial in St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery at Locust. The Rev. Albert Houts officiated, and arrangements were made by Olson-Fjelstul Funeral Home. Pallbearers were Charles Rooney, Arthur Erickson, Roy Belz, Orlando Thorson, Bernell Dehning, and Julian Moe.

Music was provided by Mrs. Paul Christenson who played the organ and accompanied the Rev. Paul H. Christenson who was soloist.

Mr. Kern was a veteran of WWI and a member of First Lutheran Church. He was born April 26, 1894 in Hesper Township, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Valentine and Louise Kern. He received his education in rural schools and was married Nov. 12, 1930 by the Rev. O. Sandbach at the Methodist Parsonage to Margie Banning Kern who lives at 908 Mechanic St.

Other survivors are a daughter, Charmaine, at home.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Emmons Kern and Valentine Kern, who died in infancy.
